This project is meant to meet the increasing need for power cables as a result of the rapid urban boom that Qatar is currently witnessing. It stands in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 to support the basic infrastructure project for achievement of comprehensive and sustainable development, he added.
All the projects are of vital importance for the country since they include construction of sub-stations, laying of High Voltage cables and dismantling of several Over Head Lines (OHLs) at major infrastructure- oriented projects of the country, across the capital city and suburbs - such as New Doha Ports, Doha Rail and Metro projects and Qatar 2022 projects among others.
The expansion plan aims to meet the growing demand for electricity in Qatar, as the country continues to witness tremendous development and urbanization. The utility provider’s expansion project aims to ensure stable power supply to all sectors - including households, business centers, shopping malls, hospitals and schools throughout the capital city of Doha and its suburbs.
