Project Overview

The New Orbital Highway Contract 2 stemmed from the intention to bypass Doha City, by connecting Salwa Road and North Relief Road, thus relieving existing traffic congestion, which is expected to increase in the coming years. Located in the North West of Doha, it is the latest contract awarded by Ashghal to our Joint-venture with Bin Omran, a local contracting company specialized in earth and road works.

10 lanes for light vehicles

NOH2 consists of 10 lanes (5 in each direction) for light vehicles with additional Collectors/Distributor roads. Four separate dedicated truck lanes (2 in each direction) run parallel to the Orbital from Salwa Road to Junction 5 where a 320m long cut and cover tunnel splits away from the light vehicle highway towards Junction 12 Dukhan interchange. The typical cross-section has a provision for an additional 2 future lanes in each direction, therefore the total width has a provision for 18 lanes of traffic.
