Designer
Miguel Vieira Batista
Since 2000, Miguel Vieira Baptista, trained at IADE Lisbon and the Glasgow School of Art, has combined his main activity as a product designer with a host of projects in exhibition and interior design commissioned by experimentadesign and the Lisbon Fashion Week, among others. He has also curated several design exhibitions such as “Dieter Rams Haus” presented at the Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon in 2001. He juggles his design practice with teaching the Industrial Design course at ESAD.CR in Caldas da Rainha since 2000, and as a guest professor in 2010 at ECAL / Ecole Cantonale d'art de Lausanne. Attention to detail and the juxtaposition between cultured and popular references lends charisma and depth to his designs, which range from limited editions for galleries such as Loja da Atalaia, Cristina Guerra, Marz and Appleton Square, to items released by brands like Asplund, Authentics and Vista Alegre. MVB's designs have been exhibited around the world and are featured in the permanent collection of MUDE, Lisbon's Museum of Design and Fashion.
