Project Overview

Suvarnabhumi Airport is built on virgin land, 24 km east of Bangkok. The completion of the first phase of the project, which included 56 boarding gates and 64 common spaces, resulted in a 563,000 square meter terminal, with capacity for 45 million passengers. The forecast maximum capacity after gradual expansion will be 120 million passengers per year.

In a project of such magnitude, there must be rigorous selection of construction materials. This is where Amorim Cork Composites role was fundamental, not only in terms of technical advice but also for selection of the most suitable materials for the application.

“Expandacork is the most suitable material for solutions that are designed to absorb the expansions inherent to buildings’ movements. Thanks to its flexibility and durability, the material can be applied quickly and easily and it is resistant to adverse climate conditions, without suffering any damage or deterioration.”
