Oil test for engine gasket aplications
Amorim Tech Seal TS1521 and TS1400 ensure effective sealing.
-
To select the most proper Amorim Tech Seal solutions, for gasket application in gasoline engines, we disassembled and benchmarked three distinct small gasoline engines in our laboratory.
Our main goal was to test the gaskets behaviour in the three gasoline engines to verify the performance regarding the following items: gasket material, gasket location, gasket thickness, flange distortion, fasteners & loading, and stress imprint (Topaq)
-
Amorim Tech Seal products TS1521 and TS1400 were selected due to their resistance to the Mineral Engine Oil (10W30 and other).
A nesting solution for each of these materials with all the soft gasket applications (for small gasoline engines) were die cut.
Amorim Tech Seal products performance shows after 100h bench testing that, with one
single gasket material and thickness, it is possible to seal effectively the majority of
the sealing applications in three different models of small gasoline engines.
Gasket | MATERIAL - Amorim Tech Seal |
---|---|
Air Cleaner Gasket | TS1400 |
Carburetor Gasket | TS1400 |
Intake Gasket | TS1400 |
Valve Cover Gasket | TS1400 |
Air Breather Passage Gasket | TS1521 |
Air Breather Gasket | TS1400 |
Crank Case Gasket | TS1400 |
The average retained torque after the 100h testing:
• 30% – 35% on high distortion stamped steel and plastic flanges (equivalente or better than fiber materials with superior or equal thicknesses)
• 50% - 60% on rigid cast and machined flanges such as the crank case cover (equivalente to fiber materials)
No Leakage was found during or after the 100h bench testing.
