Cork under the spotlight of Stockholm Furniture Fair

2017-07-25 FURNISHING

Sustainability is more than a trend.

Cork, one of the most sustainable materials in nature, presented its charm at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.  The material library was the main stage for cork´s presentation, where designers and architects had the opportunity to be introduced to the science of nature.

The Scandinavian market continues to be a trend setter in the furnishing industry, both in terms of design but mainly in the importance given to sustainable materials, and cork is entering this world at its rhythm. Step by step, but with the confidence of those who live more than 200 years (average life of the cork oak tree).

“During the Stockholm Furniture Fair, we had the pleasure of presenting the visitors in the Materials Library with a most inspirational and informative lecture from Amorim. Cork is trending as a designers material in Sweden and the participants also got a unique opportunity to learn and explore a nice collection of samples.”

Several exhibitors also presented new concepts with cork.

Over the years, designers from all over the world have been working together with Amorim Cork Composites to create magnificent design concepts, which have contributed to raise awareness to this unique material.

“Cork is a material on the cusp of reinvention with new innovations in composites.  With the increasing desirability of sustainable goods, it is clear that the universally loved cork is nearing it's second act. Designers today are embracing its malleability and warmth –I can’t wait to see what is next. ”
