The iconic Palais de Tokyo in Paris was the stage for an artistic intervention where cork emerges as the decisive element in the performative language.

The initiative – opened from December 12-18, 2016 – was part of the “Carte Blanche” project second edition, offering spaces in the palace to creations by renowned artists. The artist featured at this “Carte Blanche” is Tino Seghal, who in turn has called on several fellow artists, including the performance artist Isabel Lewis. Using elements such as music, food, smell and design, Lewis created a multi-sensory experience titled “Occasion”, the purpose of which is to awaken synergies between the spectators and motivate their involvement.

In order to create this sensory and engaging environment, the Dominican artist used different items, among which cork is the most remarkable, due to its unique characteristics, such as its soft touch, its visual appearance, the thermal and acoustic comfort it provides, and the fact that it is a 100% natural and recyclable product.

Amorim Cork Composites assisted in the execution of this project on the ground, supplying the material necessary for fully covering a structure that serves as the base for the backdrop to the artistic performances presented there.
